17
Palms Kauai
is two Kauai vacation cottage s in a garden setting named by Conde
Nast Traveler Magazine as "one of the 20 perfect places to stay
in Hawaii" , - a private garden oasis adjacent to Wailua Bay,
one of Kauai's most popular beaches (made famous in Elvis' Blue
Hawaii). Everything you need during your Hawaii vacation is a
short walk away, as the two cottages are located across the street
from the beach access path and only one block from the Coconut
Marketplace, with its shops, restaurants and movie theater. The
cottages are perfect for families, couples and honeymooners alike
because: 1) one portion of the nearby beach is child safe while
the rest offers surfing, boogie boarding and snorkeling 2) part
of the family can be at the beach while others are shopping or
eating at the Marketplace and 3) situated in the middle of the
East Coast of Kauai - 17 Palms is just a short day trip from either
the North or South shores.
THE
BEACH: The
beauty of Wailua Bay is surely why the ancient Hawaiians chose
it as the site for a heiau (sacred place) the remains of which
are still visible at the end of the beach access walkway. To this
day, the site is considered sacred and is included on the Historic
Register. A two minute walk down the access leads you to three
very different swimming areas. On the left is open ocean, great
for surfing and swimming and miles of walking. To the right is
a small bay, ideal for swimming and boogie boarding. And then
there is the baby beach, made safe by boulders protecting it from
the waves.
THE
LOCATION: 17
Palms is located along the Coconut Coast (Kapaa town) on the east
side of the island. While only a block away from both the beach
and the Coconut Marketplace, the cottages enjoy the privacy of
a lushly planted and fenced garden setting. The North and South
shores of Kauai are a 30 minute drive away.
THE
COTTAGES:
Surrounded by 17 majestic palm trees, the two cottages sit at
opposite sides of a lushly planted garden. Passion fruit and thumbergia
vines cover the fences that enclose the property. The fruit of
mango, fig, banana and avocado trees are yours for the picking.
Walk into the banana patch and take an outdoor shower. Orchids
and herbs fill the small rock garden. A bamboo pavilion is the
ideal spot for dinner (it seats 8) or a snooze.
